• Pick-up Area: SM City Iloilo, January 21, 2010 (Thursday)
• Pick-up Time for Participants who are going directly to the Downhill Area (San Rafael, Iloilo):
o 9 in the Morning
o 11 in the Morning
o 2 in the afternoon
• Transportation from SM City to destination (scheduled trips to Downhill Area, San Rafael, Iloilo): Provided by the organizer.
• Participants who want to go ahead and not wait for the scheduled trips: We can arrange jeepney rentals. Expenses are shouldered by the participants.

Koloryakot - Jan 19 - Feb 7, 2010 - Red Steakhouse and Gallery

The management of RED, in the spirit of harmony and creativity, plan to put on an invitational art activity entitled: “KOLORYAKOT” —which is a word play on: kolor and puloryakot, a Hiligaynon word loosely meaning, mixture. The idea being, the exhibit an explosion of colors and works by seasoned artists, personalities and talents. It aims to bring together all these talents in one venue and showcase a wide variety of styles and genres in time for the renowned Iloilo festival, Dinagyang. The said exhibit will be launched on January 19, 2010 and stretch till February 7.

We believe your distinct style of artistry would make this collaborative event even more significant. The works shall be showed as part of a large body of works.

The sun, the sea, the beach, the garden, the pool, the resort!

Subject:
The entries must cover Villa Rosa by the Sea Resort with Iloilo City’s models and celebrities.

Participants:
Campus student photographers, amateurs, PALI students and members

Free (pre-registration required)

Pre-registration: July 13 – Aug. 3, 2009
Photo shoot day: August 15, 2009
Deadline of entries: August 19, 2009
Judging: August 22, 2009
Awarding & Opening of Exhibits: August 23, 2009
Mall Tour Exhibit: August 23 – 29, 2009

Mechanics:
1. The photo contest is open to all Campus Photographers, amateurs and PALI students and members.

2. The contestant has the freedom to express his ingenuity and creativity with the models, provided it is taken within the resort’s premises on the day of the event.

3. There shall be two categories. Category A for Campus student photographers and amateurs, Category B for PALI students and members.

4. Registration is FREE! The entry will be disqualified if he is not duly registered.

5. Pre-registration is on www.gigsilonggo.co.cc. You will not be admitted if you have not pre-registered. The organizer will notify you if we successfully received your registration.

6. The contestant may submit a maximum of 5 entries only however, the organizer will only print 1-3 pictures from the submitted entries for judging but the contestant can only win once.

7. Photographs must be colored with the following specification: JPEG format for digital shots must not be less than 300DPI and burned in a properly labeled CD, with contestant’s full name and institution (if any).

8. For film users, entries must be accompanied by developing envelope and negative sleeve.

9. The picture’s file name must be labeled with the picture’s caption/title.

10. The CD must be placed in a short brown envelope with the registration form inside, marked RECEIVED with control number, and labeled outside with the contestant’s name and institution (if any).

11. The organizers will take charge of the printing of the pictures.

12. Please bring proper identification card on the day of the event.

13. Deadline of submission of entries is on August 19, 2009, 5:00pm at All Seasons Travel and Tours, Sarabia Manor Hotel Compound, Gen. Luna St. Iloilo City.

14. Use of software is allowed for the purpose of enhancement, color correction and clean-up only.

15. Upon submission, the organizer reserves the right to reproduce in print or in soft copy or publish the photo for exhibit and promotional purposes and/or sell the printed photos, with due credits to the owner. The owner still reserves the copyright of the photo.

16. Entries that do not conform to the above requirements will automatically be disqualified from the contest.

17. Winners will be awarded during the awarding program on August 23, 2009 at Robinson’s Place Iloilo and will be notified through our media partners, and email or SMS.

skateboarding session at night

Walking from downtown Iloilo towards University of the Philippines in the Visayas Iloilo City campus, I bumped into some of Iloilo City’s thrashers so to speak. A skateboard enthusiast myself at a younger age, I stopped by them as they were enjoying the empy parking lot of BPI Gen. Luna St. branch. Luckily one of them was a friend and I took the time to watch them and be nostalgic about the sport I loved when I was younger.

This also became an opportunity for me to talk to them about skateboarding in Iloilo.  I guess I need to update myself on the scene and so were my relentless questions on who were still playing from the old crew and what happened to the other guys.

Eventuallty I grabbed my camera and enjoyed skateboarding as seen through my viewfinder.
